Energy
Managing the energy needs of Australia's fastest growing, most decentralised and energy-intensive state at a time of increasing international competition and concerns over climate change represents one of the most significant combined challenges for government, business and the community.
Through policy and continual strengthening of relationships with Government-owned and private energy industry participants, the Department of Energy, Utilities and Sustainability is helping determine how New South Wales generates its energy, how we distribute safe, sufficient, reliable and cost-competitive energy to consumers and the significant role New South Wales can play in the growing national energy market.
The Department is developing polices that encourage private investment in New South Wales and supports, regulates and monitors the energy industry.
