Energy Savings Fund

The NSW Government’s Energy Savings Fund provides $200 million over five years for projects which will save energy and reduce peak electricity demand.

The purpose of the Energy Savings Fund is to:

  • reduce overall electricity consumption in NSW and related greenhouse gas emissions,
  • reduce peak electricity demand,
  • stimulate investment in innovative measures, and
  • increase public awareness in energy savings.

Funding rounds

The Energy Savings Fund can be accessed through funding rounds, held two to three times a year. For information about the selection criteria and application process, go to:

Public Facilities Program

In addition to the contestable funding rounds, the Public Facilities Program has been introduced as part of the NSW Energy Savings Fund to support energy savings in public and educational facilities. Applications can be made at any time. For details, go to:

Energy Savings Action Plans

The NSW Energy Savings Fund goes hand in hand with the requirement for certain high energy users to prepare Energy Savings Action Plans. Designated Users – those organisations required to prepare savings action plans - are encouraged to apply to the Energy Savings Fund to implement potentially cost-effective savings measures identified in their plans.
